2015’s jobs market will be characterised by high demand for skilled professionals who can diagnose time or cost inefficiencies and then offer solutions to improve their department or business’s performance, says recruiting expert Hays.
According to the recruiter’s January to March 2015 Hays Quarterly Report, released today, as long as employers want to maintain profitability while keeping costs down, people who can offer effective process or costs solutions will be in high demand.
“Employers are hiring and they have positive intentions for the year ahead,” says Christine Wright, Managing Director of Hays in Asia. “In our conversations with employers, it’s clear that the greatest hotspots of demand will be for people who can help a business work smarter, not harder.
“All departments now need people who can analyse performance, review and improve processes, reduce costs and increase efficiencies.
“From Financial Controllers in the accountancy department, to Senior IT Consultants in the IT team and Brand Managers in the marketing department, the focus this year will be on improving the existing ways of operating while reducing costs,” said Christine.
According to the Hays Quarterly Report, the following skills are just some of those in demand:
Hays Accountancy & Finance: CFOs and Financial Controllers who have international experience and regional exposure with genuine multinational companies continue to be sought after. Demand for these professionals is strongest in the oil & gas, healthcare, technology and FMCG sectors.
Hays Banking: Risk Analysts with good exposure to the SAS or Teradata analytics programs have been high in demand as banks strengthen their risk and credit infrastructure. These skills are also highly sought in Project Managers and Business Analysts.
Hays Human Resources: Strategic business partner skills continue to be highly sought after in the Malaysian market. The role of Business Partner is traditionally viewed as very operational but high demand exists for professionals with vision who can balance human resource programs with business priorities.
Hays Information Technology: There is currently a lack of Senior IT professionals in Malaysia who possess the right balance of technical skills and business acumen. Candidates with the ability to communicate their technical expertise effectively in the business environment are highly sought.
Hays Finance Technology: IT Security professionals continue to be highly sought after as companies look to ensure that data is protected within the cloud and virtualization technologies.
Hays Sales & Marketing: Mid-management Brand Managers continue to be in high demand across various industries including the FMCG sector, as the market continues to be strong and companies in Malaysia grow.
HAYS Oil & Gas: Despite the recent drop in the Oil Price, engineering consultancies with strong existing relationships and good project pipeline require Mechanical, Instrumentation, Piping and Process Engineers. The recent award of large downstream projects has increased confidence in this part of the industry and encouraged further investment and expansion.
Hays Supply Chain: There has been an increase in demand for strategic Procurement and Supply Chain Managers across all industry sectors. Candidates with a track record of process/operations improvement and cost saving are particularly in demand. Professionals with telecommunications and e-commerce experience are particularly sought after.
