Your new role
- Responsible for establishing and overseeing the data governance framework to ensure the integrity, security, and quality of our organisation's data. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, defining data policies and procedures, and implementing strategies to optimise data management practices.
- Data Governance Framework: develop and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, including policies, procedures, and standards, to ensure the effective management of organisational data.
- Data Quality Management: Establish and enforce data quality standards and metrics to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data across all systems.
- Implement data profiling and monitoring processes to identify and address data quality issues.
- Data Stewardship: Lead and coordinate data stewardship initiatives, assigning responsibilities and ensuring accountability for data quality and governance throughout the organisation.
- Provide guidance and training to data stewards and other stakeholders on data governance best practices.
- Compliance and Security: Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and industry standards.
- Collaborate with the IT security team to implement and maintain data security measures, including access controls and encryption.
- Data Cataloguing and Metadata Management: Implement and maintain a centralised data catalogue to facilitate the discovery and understanding of available data assets.
- Oversee metadata management processes to enhance data lineage, traceability, and documentation.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with business units, IT, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and promote a collaborative approach to data governance.
- Communicate data governance policies, procedures, and initiatives to all relevant stakeholders.
What you'll need to succeed
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Management, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience (8+ years) in data governance, with a focus on establishing and maintaining effective data governance frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of data quality management, metadata management, and data stewardship.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
