Global Financial Services – your new company is looking for varying levels of experience; Junior, Mid and Senior across different databases such as Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, Sybase & Cassandra.
Your new role
You will be joining as a Database Administrator (DBA), responsible for ensuring that an organisation’s databases are secure, reliable, high‑performing, and available at all times. In a banking and financial services environment, this work is especially critical because the databases support core financial operations, regulatory reporting, transactions, and global business processes.
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong experience in database administration (installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management) in at least one DB mentioned above.
- Solid knowledge of backup, recovery, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
- Proven ability in performance tuning, query optimisation, indexing, and capacity planning.
- Experience with database monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud) and/or PaaS database services.
- Understanding of database security, including access control, encryption, and data protection standards.
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting, with working knowledge of Unix/Linux environments.
- Experience with incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Exposure to database migration, replication, and data transfer practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.
