Your new role
They are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Nursing Education to oversee a team of nursing educators and drive education programs to uphold the competency of the service they provide to patients nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive nursing education strategy aligned with organisational goals, clinical priorities, and patient safety objectives.
- Provide strategic direction for undergraduate, postgraduate, continuing professional development (CPD), and specialty training programs.
- Act as a key advisor to nursing and executive leadership on education, competency development, and workforce capability.
- Design, review, and oversee nursing education curricula, orientation programs, competency frameworks, and clinical training pathways.
- Ensure education programs are evidence‑based, aligned with best practices, and responsive to changes in clinical care and healthcare standards.
- Lead the incorporation of simulation, e‑learning, blended learning, and innovative educational methodologies.
- Establish and maintain frameworks for clinical competency assessment, validation, and re‑credentialing.
- Partner with clinical leaders to identify learning needs, address practice gaps, and improve patient outcomes.
- Support quality improvement initiatives through targeted education and training interventions.
- Ensure nursing education programs comply with relevant nursing regulatory bodies, accreditation requirements, and professional standards.
- Maintain readiness for external audits, inspections, and accreditation assessments related to nursing education.
- Monitor changes in nursing education standards and regulatory requirements and assess their impact on the organisation.
- Recruit, lead, mentor, and develop nurse educators, clinical instructors, and preceptors.
- Build educator capability through faculty development programs and coaching.
- Foster a culture of learning, professional growth, and academic excellence.
- Establish governance structures for nursing education programs, including outcome measurement and reporting.
- Evaluate education effectiveness using defined metrics (competency outcomes, patient safety indicators, staff retention, learner feedback).
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation across nursing education services.
What you'll need to succeed
- Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (required).
- Master’s degree in Nursing Education, Clinical Nursing, Healthcare Education, or related field.
- Minimum of 8 to 15+ years of nursing experience, with significant experience in education, training, or academic roles.
- 5+ years in a nursing education role within a hospital, healthcare system, or academic institution.
- Demonstrated experience designing and leading large-scale nursing education or professional development programs.
