Head of Pricing – Commercial Projects
Location: Kuala Lumpur
A leading organisation within the technology and infrastructure solutions industry is seeking an accomplished Head of Pricing (Commercial Projects) to join its senior leadership team in Kuala Lumpur. This role is pivotal in shaping commercial strategy, driving profitable growth, and strengthening competitive positioning across complex project bids and tenders.
Your new role
Reporting directly to a senior executive, you will take overall ownership of the organisation’s commercial, pricing and financial strategies, and risk governance framework, spanning from pre-bid strategy through to project close-out. You will act as the commercial authority for high-value tenders and awarded projects, ensuring optimal financial outcomes while balancing risk, compliance, and long-term sustainability.
- Lead and define end-to-end pricing and commercial strategies across tenders, bids, and project portfolios to maximise margin and win probability.
- Provide senior-level oversight on all commercial evaluations for bids and live projects, ensuring alignment with financial, operational, and strategic objectives.
- Structure commercially sound pricing models, financial forecasts, and cost assumptions that are competitive, defensible, and scalable.
- Assess and manage commercial, contractual, and financial risks throughout tendering and execution phases, proactively protecting business interests.
- Oversee post-award commercial controls, including variation management, claims, and change orders, to safeguard profitability.
- Act as a trusted commercial advisor to bid teams and project leaders, embedding strong governance, discipline, and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with finance, legal, operations, and sales stakeholders to ensure robust decision-making and seamless execution.
- Deliver clear commercial insights, market intelligence, and strategic recommendations to senior management.
What you'll need to succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Commercial Management, or a related discipline (postgraduate qualification is an advantage).
- Extensive experience in commercial management, pricing, or bid/tender leadership, ideally within project-based or regulated environments.
- Strong track record in complex tendering, contract negotiations, and pricing strategy formulation.
- Solid financial acumen with hands-on exposure to profitability analysis, cost modelling, and investment evaluation (e.g. margin analysis, ROI, NPV).
- Demonstrated ability to balance commercial competitiveness with risk management and contractual compliance.
- Confident leadership presence with the ability to influence cross-functional senior stakeholders.
