We are partnering with a fast‑growing regional financial services platform to appoint a Strategy & Expansion Lead. This role sits at the intersection of regional strategy, market expansion, and selective M&A, with a clear emphasis on forward-looking growth initiatives.
This is a strategy‑heavy role (~70%) complemented by hands‑on exposure to M&A and inorganic expansion (~30%), ideal for candidates seeking a balanced blend of strategic planning and transaction support.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Expansion (Primary Focus)
- Support regional growth initiatives through new market entry planning, regulatory licensing strategies, and expansion roadmaps
- Conduct market entry assessments, including market sizing, competitive landscape analysis, regulatory environment reviews, and evaluation of viable entry options (e.g. greenfield licensing, partnerships, acquisitions)
- Lead strategic and operational assessments to evaluate growth opportunities, regulatory feasibility, and operational readiness
- Track and monitor expansion initiatives, milestones, risks, and dependencies, ensuring strong documentation and governance
- Coordinate with internal teams and external advisors to ensure expansion initiatives are well-structured, compliant, and executable.
M&A / Inorganic Growth (Supporting Focus)
- Support M&A and partnership evaluations, including target screening, business model analysis, and strategic fit assessments
- Coordinate and support due diligence workstreams across regulatory, operational, and strategic areas.
- Prepare evaluation materials and internal recommendations for investment and acquisition decisions
- Support post‑transaction integration planning from an operational and regulatory perspective
Requirements
- Minimum 6 years of experience in strategy, corporate development, M&A, or related roles within banking, fintech, financial services, or consulting
- Exposure to both strategic planning / expansion and M&A or investment evaluation (either in-house or advisory)
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to synthesise market, regulatory, and commercial insights into clear recommendations
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly in drafting strategy papers, regulatory submissions, and investment materials
- Strong project management and stakeholder coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams concurrently
- High attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to operate in evolving and ambiguous regulatory environments
