Our client is a leading shipbuilder and marine engineering specialist, recognised for delivering high-quality vessels and maritime solutions. Their expertise supports global maritime operations, making them a trusted name in the industry.
They are currently seeking a Procurement Manager to lead and manage the procurement operations for the shipbuilding division, ensuring timely sourcing, negotiation, and delivery of materials, equipment, and services in accordance with project timelines, quality requirements, and budgetary constraints.
Your new role
In this role, you will:
- Lead strategic sourcing and vendor management for marine-grade materials, in alignment with project requirements.
- Oversee the full procurement cycle while collaborating closely with engineering teams to meet technical specifications.
- Drive procurement budget control, optimise cost-saving initiatives, and ensure compliance with industry regulations (CIDB, MARPOL, SOLAS).
- Manage procurement risks, strengthen supply chain resilience, and lead a team of buyers, fostering continuous improvement in procurement operations.
What you'll need to succeed
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Marine Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent.
- Professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is an added advantage.
- Minimum 7–10 years of procurement experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within the shipbuilding or marine industry.
- Strong understanding of shipbuilding components, technical drawings/specs, and international sourcing.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and contract management skills.
- Familiarity with procurement ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Willing to travel to shipyards, suppliers, and ports locally and abroad as required.
- Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin is an added advantage due to supplier communication.
