How much does a Data Analyst earn in Malaysia?

Salaries will certainly vary depending on the role, location, and experience of the individual. Those looking at roles related to AI can draw between RM80 - 360K. Data Specialists can expect RM120 - 300K while Data Analysts typically earn between RM96 - 480K depending on seniority.

What type of employers are hiring Data Analysts?

With the focus on data increasing across nearly all industries, almost every organisation will need professionals to help them make sense of their data, so you’ve no shortage of choice.    
 
Larger established corporations with massive business data stored in their ERP and digital platforms will always require in-house data professionals to manage that data. Internet and software companies tend to also build data-centric teams. Excel and visualisation tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Qlik are key, as well as having an understanding of databases such as SQL, Oracle, MySQL or No SQL. Computer programming skills, SQL coding, and knowledge of Big Data technology will also be helpful.   
 
These technical skills show that you’re able to understand and use data to get to the most viable solution, but it’s the ability to communicate and influence stakeholders – both technical and non-technical – with your findings that will set you apart from the competition.
