What can I expect in interviews for Software Developer jobs?

As it’s a highly technical job, expect a rigorous coding skills assessment. Once employers are confident of your technical capabilities, the focus will turn to soft skills. Reasoning and problem-solving skills are critical, so expect interviewers to probe into past experiences and be prepared to show how you’ve overcome challenges in such situations before.

What are the biggest Software Development trends in 2022?

The industry will continue to grow, given that organisations are ramping up on their digital transformation plans. Good Software Developers – already in short supply – will be in high demand.

However, the landscape of software development is also constantly changing, so you’ll want to keep abreast of new languages that might not exist now or are uncommonly used, in case they suddenly rise in prominence.

Investment in AI is also continuously growing as organisations want to make use of Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing. More developers will be needed to build AI functionality into software applications, so any training and experience you have in this area will be highly valuable. Developments in the use of VR, AR and MR will also create a need for more development expertise in these areas.
